One of Australia’s most iconic private island resorts has reopened as Hayman Island by InterContinental. Located at the northernmost point of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, the property was a One&Only resort prior to a tropical cyclone that closed the island in 2017.
It has since undergone a $135 million refurbishment under the IHG brand, led by a prominent group of designers including DBI Designs, DAAC and KY Design.
With 166 rooms, suites and villas across three distinct wings, the property also offers a 400-square-metre, three-bedroom Hayman Beach House; five restaurants and bars; and numerous water-based activities making the most of its location on the closest private island to the Great Barrier Reef.
