Set to open in Norway’s Arctic Circle in 2022, Svart will be the world’s first energy-positive hotel.
With a 360-degree view of the Svartisen glacier and the Northern Lights, the 99-room property has been designed to produce more energy than it uses and will consume around 85 per cent less energy than a traditional hotel.
Guest amenities will include four restaurants, a 1,000-square-metre spa, a sustainable farm, two electric boats, an education centre and a design laboratory.
The property will be constructed in a glass-fronted circular design so as to make the most of its surrounds at the base of the Svartisen Glacier, atop the waters of the Holandsfjorden fjord.
