Like its compatriots Ferrari and Maserati, Riva is a name that carries a certain magic. Its handmade motorboats with their distinctive wooden hulls conjure up glamorous images of life in the 1950s on the French Riviera or the Italian lakes. Riva is in fact the oldest surviving boat maker of its kind in the world, having started over 150 years ago. The classic launches are still available, and they have been joined by more modern, but no less elegant, siblings. In 2006 Ferruccio Rossi, the youngest CEO of a maritime brand ever, took up the helm. He tells Luxury Briefing how the desirability has been maintained and how the brand is moving forward
